Legacy Media Partners started with a box of photographs in my parents' home. Like most families in this part of Ohio, mine had been saving things for decades — photographs from the fifties, VHS tapes from the eighties, slides from vacations no one had taken the time to digitize. My grandfather's shadow box hung on the wall: his military medals, his photograph in uniform, a young man most of his grandchildren couldn't quite place by name. And I realized one day that the people who could tell us the stories behind all of it were getting older. That the window was not going to stay open forever.

I wanted to give my parents a gift for their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Not something from a store. Something that could only come from us — from our family's actual history. So I gathered everything: the shoeboxes, the tapes, the albums no one had opened since before I was born. And I turned it into a film. A documentary of the life my parents had built together, told through the photographs and home videos that proved it had actually happened. When they watched it for the first time, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, I understood something I hadn't fully understood before. These weren't just memories. They were the story of who we are. And they almost weren't preserved.
