What to Expect on Pickup Day

Back to all articles

We understand that handing over your family's irreplaceable photographs and home videos can feel like a leap of faith. That's why we've designed every step of our pickup process to be transparent, careful, and personal. Here's exactly what happens when our team arrives at your door.

First, we schedule the pickup at a time that works for your family. There's no rush, no tight window. When our team member arrives — always in a branded Legacy Media Partners vehicle — they'll introduce themselves and walk you through the process before touching a single item. We bring padded archival containers, acid-free tissue paper, and cotton gloves.

Next, we inventory everything together. Every photograph, every VHS tape, every slide carousel, every box of negatives — each item is cataloged and photographed right there in your home, in your presence. You'll see exactly what we're taking, and you'll receive a signed copy of the complete media inventory before we leave. This isn't just good practice — it's our promise that every single item is accounted for from the moment it leaves your hands.

Our team member will also note any special items or concerns. Maybe there's a tape labeled 'Grandma's 80th' that you're especially anxious about, or a set of slides from your parents' honeymoon that are particularly fragile. We document these priorities so our production team knows exactly what matters most to your family.

The entire pickup typically takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of your collection. There's no pressure, no upselling, no awkward sales conversation. Just a careful, respectful process designed to give you confidence that your memories are in good hands.

Once your media is safely loaded into our archival transport containers, it goes directly to our scanning facility — a climate-controlled, access-restricted environment. You'll receive a confirmation message when your collection arrives at the lab, and we'll keep you updated throughout the digitization and production process.
